The underdog Navy Midshipmen defeated UCF on Nov. 19, 2022, this time by 17-14 despite the Knights changing quarterbacks. This represented a sour end to the careers of the last reminiscing players from the 2017 championship squad, such as Sam Jackson and Anthony Montalvo.

Rushing Attack, Defense, lead UCF to 27-10 Win Over Georgia Tech

Despite what the scoreboard shows, UCF’s 27-10 win over Georgia Tech on Sept. 24, 2022, might bury what both teams produced. While the Knights had the ball for 77 plays, producing 333 yards. On the other end of the spectrum, the Yellow Jackets had 63 plays but for 452 yards, an average of 7.2 yards per play against UCF’s 4.3.

Transfer WR Javon Baker shines in UCF Debut

In a night full of expectations, transfer Javon Baker showed the fans at UCF’s home why he will be key to the future. “Crowd came out tonight and did their thing, so we’re gonna do our thing,” Baker said in a post-game press conference. He was one of the most impactful players on the Knights’ season opener 56-10 win against South Carolina State on Sept. 1, 2022.

Big Offensive Plays, Stout Defense, Lead UCF to Pummel South Carolina State 56-10

A strong first half behind John Rhys Plumlee’s dual-threat quarterback abilities led UCF to a 56-10 win to open the season versus South Carolina State on Sept. 1, 2022. In his debut for the Knights, Plumlee threw for 304 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. He also rushed for a team-high 99 yards on 13 attempts, also scoring once on the ground.
